Borussia Dortmund are set to cut Jadon Sancho’s asking price to £88 million following the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic, which could pave the way for Manchester United to renew interest.

The Red Devils have long been tied to a move by Sancho, and were expected to make a blockbuster move for the England international during the 2020 transfer window.

However, as the financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic unfolded, United refused to break the £100 million barrier in their attempts to land the former Manchester City player, while Dortmund refused to give in on his player valuation of £108 million.

United were confident that their decision not to give in to Dortmund’s demands and break the club’s transfer record to sign Sancho in the summer would pay off in 2021 as they believed the German team would have to lower their price due to global financial circumstances.

According to German news outlet Bild (via the Express), this is now the case, with Dortmund poised to part ways with the 20-year-old for a slashed price of £ 88 million in an attempt to balance the books after the pandemic.

Dortmund anticipates losses of up to 66 million pounds due to Covid-19, and the sale of Sancho would help ease its financial woes.

The Red Devils haven’t been put off by the winger’s loss of form this season and still see him as an ideal signing.

Sancho has three goals in 17 Bundesliga appearances this season and Dortmund are in sixth place, having found the net 17 times during the previous campaign.
