Jerome Boateng time at Bayern Munich is gradually coming to an end and the German has been linked with both Arsenal and Chelsea ahead of the summer transfer window.

Bayern Munich will reportedly not be extending Jerome Boateng’s contract which is due to expire at the end of the season.

Hasan Salihamidzic, Bayern Munich sporting director confirmed the news prior to Bayern’s Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday evening.

The German international will have his contract with the current Champions League holders concluded in the summer and now looks set to leave the club.

 

Speaking to Sky, via Bundesliga news, Salihamidzic said: “That was a joint decision of the club’s management and the coach was also involved in it.”
“I explained it to Jerome, and he was very understanding.”

Jerome Boateng who joined Bayern Munich since 2011 has been linked with a return to the Premier League, with Arsenal and Chelsea both reportedly interested in the experienced defender.

Boateng spent a season at Manchester City, making just 16 appearances for city before moving to Bayern a year later.

Jerome Boateng has won eight Bundesliga titles, five DFB-Pokal trophies, two Champions League crowns, and has also been involved in two Club World Cup triumphs.

 

Bayern Munich are currently seven points clear at the top of the German top-flight, it looks set to be nine league medals for the German before he bids goodbye to his home team which he served for nearly 10 years.

Arsenal however are reportedly interested in the former City center-back as Mikel Arteta looks to add a dominant and very experienced defender to his side.

On the other hand, Chelsea defender, Thiago Silva‘s future at the Bridge remains uncertain, The blues boss Thomas Tuchel may turn to another experienced central defender to reinforce and support his options.

 

However, the German international wage bill could serve as a hindrance to both English clubs which is set at £210,000-a-week at Bayern currently according to Wage Indicator.
