Juventus Captain Giorgio Chiellini has slammed Mario Balotelli, describing the Brescia forward as “negative person” with no respect.
The center-back was a former Italy teammate of Mario Balotelli.
Both players represented Italy at the 2013 Confederation Cup in Brazil, the Azzurri’s were in group A with Brazil, Mexico, and Japan. Italy lost 4-2 to Brazil in the last round of group matches after only managing a slender win against Japan.
The world cup winner revealed while in an interview with La Repubblica just before the publication of his autobiography talking about Balotelli.
“Balotelli is a negative person, with no respect for teammates,” Chiellini told La Repubblica as translated by ESPN “ In the 2013 Confederations Cup against Brazil, he didn’t give us a hand in anything, he makes you want to slap him.
“For someone [supposed to be] among the top five in the world, I never even thought he could be in the top 10 or 20,” he added.
Balotelli responded to Chiellini’s comments, saying that he was man enough to express himself face to face, unlike Chiellini.
If this means being a champion, then I’d rather not be one. And yet, I have never disrespected the Azzurri shirt,” Balotelli said.
“At least, I have the sincerity and the courage to say things to the face,” he continued. “Since 2013, you have had many opportunities to do so, acting like a real man, but you never did.”
The 35-year-old also criticized former Juventus teammate, Felipe Melo.
“Felipe Melo was even worse. The worst of the worst. I can’t stand disrespectful people, those who always want to be the opposite of others. It was always a fight with him. I also told the chiefs he was a rotten apple.” Said Chiellini.
Melo, who is presently at Palmeiras fireback at the defender in an interview with La Gazatte dello sport
He said Chellini was “mad” at him for defeating Juventus while playing for Galatasary in the Champions League and also “envious of his success” at international level
