Tomas Soucek opened the scoring as the Hammers clung on to fifth place ahead of Everton and they are now just two points behind Liverpool after the champions’ defeat to Brighton.

Five minutes later, a quick break from Benrahma, after Watkins fumbled on the edge of his own box, ended when Antonio touched on Lingard and beat Martinez.

But Lingard had the last laugh two minutes later when he teamed up again with Antonio to shoot through Martinez’s dive.
