Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has injury concerns over Thomas Partey and Emile Smith Rowe after his 3-1 victory over Southampton on Tuesday night.
The Gunners climbed into the top half of the Premier League with the win.
Goals from Nicolas Pepe, Bukayo Saka and Alexandre Lacazette canceled out Stuart Armstrong’s early opener and put Arteta’s men in eighth place.
While there have been many positive results, Arteta had two major injury concerns with Manchester United on the horizon.
Both Partey and Smith Rowe were forced of the field in the second half and are now facing a race to be fit for Saturday’s duel in the Emirates.
“He [Smith Rowe] was injured for the FA Cup game and we knew he probably couldn’t play the full game today.
“He had muscle problems and had to jump off again.
“We had five players in the FA Cup who couldn’t play. [Kieran Tierney] was one of them and Thomas could see he couldn’t make it for 60 minutes.” We don’t know [if it was a cramp] .but it was a fight, “said Arteta after the game.
Arsenal will take on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer side in the Premier League on Saturday, 31, at the Emirate Stadium as they look to continue their good run of form.
