Arteta dismisses rumors of leaving Arsenal for Barcelona

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has dismissed rumors of departing the Gunners for Barcelona ” insisting he remains “privilege and extremely happy” to be in charge of the club.

Arteta has been linked with a possible move to Barça this week, and presidential candidate Joan Laporta said he is considering him as a possible replacement for Ronald Koeman.

However, he  has denied such report. When asked about being linked with the Barcelona job.

Arteta told reporters on Wednesday: “There is always going to be speculation when there are elections in Barcelona, it’s a huge team.

“Obviously I was raised there as a player and there are always going to be links. But I am fully focused on the job that I have to do here, which we have a lot to do, and I am really enjoying it.

” Today and tomorrow, I am the manager of Arsenal football club and I am really enjoying it. And I want to do much better than what we have done so far.

“What I can tell you is I feel privileged to manage this football club and that I’m extremely happy.”

Arteta’s current contract runs until 2023 and there have been no talks about fresh terms for now.

The Spaniard is under pressure with Arsenal currently a distance 10th place far from their top-four finish agenda for the season.

He added: “We are in the middle of the season. We have a lot to play for and at the moment it is not a priority.

“I think that’s okay. I still have a contract here. I am happy here and I don’t think it is something urgent.
