Arsenal table second bid for star midfield target

Arsenal are still hopeful of securing the deal for Nabil Fekir this summer despite Real Betis rejecting their initial offer.

Fekir is a very familiar name to fans in England.  He came close to signing for Liverpool in the summer of 2018 before a failed medicals ruined the deal.  It was an embarrassing saga as leaked photos showed him posing in a Liverpool jersey.

After the incident he moved to Betis and has become a big LaLiga star.  In fact, this seaArsenalson, Fekir scored five goals and assisted five more in 33 appearances.

The 27-year-old effort could not earn him a place in France Euro 2020 squad.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move in recent weeks.  Additionally, a report earlier this month suggested the player would “seize the opportunity” to join the Gunners.

However, Arsenal’s initial offer to sign Fekir has reportedly fallen short according to reports in Spain.

Betis chiefs have snubbed their opening bid – believed to be around €25m as per AS.

However, all hope is not lost with Betis hinting to Arsenal they would sell for a bigger offer.

Speaking Betis Sporting director Antonio Cordon said: ‘At no club in the world is there a non-transferable player if tempting offers arrive.

‘For us, we want to keep him, so if someone wants to come for him, they will have to pay a lot of money.’

Arsenal are in need of a creative midfielder with Martin Odegaard  unlikely to return to the Emirates after the end of his loan spell.

However, his hopes of landing on Fekir have been raised even higher.  Amid claims, the midfielder is well aware of his interest and would take the opportunity to join Arsenal.
