Arsenal are said to be close to completing their first summer deal with the signing of sporting forward Tiago Tomas.
That’s the claim from The Sun,which reports that the Gunners have been talking to Sporting Lisbon about a cut-price deal for soccer’s oldest-looking teenager.
Tomas is an 18-year-old forward who can play central or right wing. He has scored five goals and three more this season and his performances have been enough to convince Arsenal to act fast.
Apparently, Edu has been in contact with his counterpart from Sporting Lisbon, Hugo Viana, does anyone suddenly feel very old to discuss a deal for Tomas, who signed a new contract with Sporting last summer that included a £52 million release clause.
But Covid means that Sporting may be willing to accept less than half that amount, and anything in the region of £20 million is said to be sufficient.
