Arsenal news:Arsenal David Luiz has taken the fault for his side 3-0 loss to Manchester City on the first day of the return of Epl after 100 days.
Arsenal defender David Luiz has taken the responsibility for his club 3-0 defeat to Manchester City after he was red-carded in the 49th minute of play.
Luiz came on to replace injured Pablo in the 24th minute but went on to have a night he won’t want to remember any time.
The Brazilian lost the ball as Raheem Sterling fired a shot past Arsenal goalkeeper Leno for Manchester City opener.
His night was summed up by the red card he received for a foul on Riyad Mahrez that gave City a penalty and left Arsenal to play with 10 Men, for the remaining 40 minutes of the encounter.
It’s not the team’s fault, it was my fault,” he told Sky Sports. The team did well, especially with 10 Me. The coach is amazing.
“I love being here and that’s why I continue to train hard and why I came here [to be interviewed] to show my face.
Luiz contract with the Gunners is due at the end of June and was reported to have received an Extension offer.
The 33-year-old has expressed his desire to stay with Mikel Arteta’s team and not using the incident as an excuse to leave.
“I want to stay, the coach knows, he wants me to stay so we are waiting for the decisions. I should have taken a different decision in the last two months but I didn’t.
“All about my contract, if I stay here or not. I have 14 days to be here and that’s it. I should have tried to decide my future as early as possible, but I didn’t. he added.
“I don’t want to use that as an alibi or excuse, it’s my fault – that’s it. I love to be here.”
