Bayer Munich defender, David Alaba’s move to Real Madrid has been hindered after he demanded more money than Sergio Ramos earns at the club according to Goal.com

The Austria international will leave the German Bundesliga champions when his contract ends in the summer as a free agent.

Real Madrid became a possible destination ahead of Barcelona when it appeared the Catalan giants.

Real Madrid wants to push through a deal for the 28-year-old, but his representatives – headed by Pini Zahavi, told the Santiago Bernabeu landlords that the player wants a wage of €13 million ($16m/£12m) a season after tax.

And his wage demand will see him catapulted to the top of Real Madrid’s wage structure, ahead of Sergio Ramos who earns €12 million ($15m/£11m) a season.

Club Captain Sergio Ramos is in the final year of his contract with the club and that talks for renewal have stalled, pushing ahead with a deal for Alaba on such terms would be problematic for Real, who are ready to sanction a pay packet worth €10 million ($12m/£9m).

While Alaba is still to commit leaving Bayern Munich, there is always an outside chance that the club could persuade him to stay.

But, Bayern board member and legend, Oliver Kahn had said Alaba has turned his back on the prospect of remaining at the Allianz Arena.
