Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane has dismissed talks on how the Var supports Los Blancos after the Liga giants move closer to clinching the Laliga title with a win over Deportivo Alaves.
Karim Benzema scoring a penalty and a goal from Marco Ascensio secured a 2-0 win over Alaves on Friday, moving four points clear of rivals Barcelona.
Var was needed after Marco Ascensio’s goal was initially ruled out due to an offside decision against Benzema.
The French defender helped Real Madrid maintaining a clean sheet for the fifth straight game, was unhappy with the talks going his team’s way.
“Outside noise doesn’t matter to us. We are focused on winning and giving everything on the pitch” Varane told Movistar.
“We don’t control the Var; we control the effort and attitude we show on the pitch.”
After Barcelona pres, ident Josep Maria Bartomeu accused Var of favouring Madridadrid win against Athletic club last week.
If Barcelona fail to win Real Valladolid on Saturday, then Real will have sealed the title with Zinedine Zidane’s side having an edge in the head to head rule over Barca.
