Cypriot club Doxa Katokopias have announced the signing of former AC Milan defender Taye Taiwo; it was revealed on Thursday after both parties reached an agreement.

No further details were disclosed concerning the length and other terms of the contract, but it is understood to be till the end of 2020/21 season.

The 35-year-old last featured for finish side ROPS in 2019/20 season where he made 27 appearances for the club.

Taiwo has in his nomadic career featured for  Marseille, AC Milan, QPR, Dynamo Kyiv, Bursaspor, HJK Helsinki, Laussane, AFC Eskilstuna and RoPS.

A club statement read “The Association DOXATH.O.I. KATOKOPIAS announces the start of cooperation with the Nigerian football player Taye Taiwo.

“He chose to fight with the number 33. We welcome Taye Taiwo to the Doxa family and wish him every success.”

Doxa finished the 2019-20 Cypriot First Division season at the bottom of the table after the league was abandoned amid the coronavirus pandemic.

But, no team was awarded the trophy neither was any relegated. As a result, Doxa continues to remain in the top-flight crypto division.

Taiwo spent a season at Gabros united and later played for Lobi star in the Nigerian Professional League before leaving for Europe in 2004.
