CAF Postpones AFCON 2021 and CHAN 2020 Competitions.

CAF postpones AFCON competition

The Confederation of Africa Football(CAF) have taken a final decision on the AFCON and CHAN competitions.

CAF postpones AFCON that was scheduled to hold in January/February 2021 in Cameroon, while the CHAN that was to take place in 2020 at the same Venue has been rescheduled for January 2021.

The announcement was made Following a CAF executive meeting held on Tuesday, 30, June 2020.

CAF took the decision amid the coronavirus pandemic that has forced Federations and football unions across the world to reschedule or cancel events, thus giving them no other choice than to postpone the event for a year

With four rounds of qualifiers left including the third round that was postponed in a March this year.

The last competition held in Egypt in 2019 took place in June/July, but it was moved back to its original January date due to the raining season in Cameroon.

After deliberation it was agreed by CAF that the AFCON be postponed for a year, while CHAN will take place in January 2021, thereby altering the football calendar including Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
