Gernot Rohr, head coach of the Nigerian Super Eagles have predicted difficult year ahead of the super eagles if the eventually qualify for both the Fifa world cup and Caf African cup of nation in 2022.

This is due to the coronavirus pandemic which disrupted the global football calendar with CAF postponing many tournaments, including the 2021 AFCON.
The tournament initially schedules to run from June to July 2021 have been moved to 2022 with Cameroon as the host country.

The super eagles have commenced their qualification campaign and are currently top of Group L ahead of Sierra Leone, Lesotho and Benin with six points after two matches.

The German tactician in view of the upcoming world cup in Qatar during winter might affect the super eagles the following year due to the tight schedules of the qualification campaign in 2021.

“The African cup of Nations have been postponed. It’s the same for everyone so it’s not a drawback Rohr told Girondins4ever.

“We have more time to prepare as well as for other countries. We can continue the play playoffs start the world cup qualifiers at the same time.”

“But it will a difficult 2022 year because already in 2021, there are a lot of qualifying matches to play for the team.
